My New Toy

After 183,000+ miles and 13 years I've finally broken down and bought a new vehicle. My truck has needed significantly more maintenance this year and it was time to retire it as my primary vehicle. I didn't bother trading it in as its only worth a few hundred dollars bluebook (if that) and its handy to have another vehicle around, I might sell it to the mill for use as a work vehicle by the time the plates expire in May.

So what did I replace it with? I've sorely been wanting something that had better gas mileage and a back seat, and something that didn't completely bust my budget. Combine that with a GM discount thanks to an uncle who spent 40 years working as an engineer for GM (Allison Transmission to be precise) and I present to you my new car, a 2007 Pontiac Vibe:

A busy day

It's been a long day for me. Got up early (for a Saturday)to make it to the car repair shop by the time they opened (8am) and wait for them to replace my water pump and paying them $264 for the privilege.

By 10:45 I'm back at the house where the roofers are putting the finishing touches on the roof, installing a bath fan vent and an attic fan, doing touch up on the new gutters. I'll have pictures to share of that tomorrow.

Since Sam (the roofer) had removed all his gear from the garage finally, I took the opportunity to clean out the garage and do a proper job of it. I haven't cleaned it since I moved in, and junk was piled everywhere with just enough room to get a vehicle through in winter when I pushed it to the side. I moved everything out, swept, built a shelving unit/workbench and moved everything back in and actually used the peg board to hang tools up this time around.

2 garbage cans are filled to the brim with junk and there's a pile of old wood and particle board lying just outside that Sam has agreed to get rid of for me. In addition to that I've got about two dozen items I've posted on the local Freecycle group to try and get rid of, but that garage is the cleanest and most organized its been since I moved into the house three plus years ago.

For those who don't know, I co-mod a Battlestar Galactica RPG (the new version, not the 70's one) and we've had some cast upheaval lately. Because of that I'm trying to raise the profile of the game and hopefully interest some fresh writers into taking a look and taking up characters. The Battlestar Galactica and Battlestar Avalon together search for the Thirteenth Colony. Fractures are beginning to form in the fleet as new challenges arrive, and no one knows where the Cylons have gone.

Kobol’s Legacies is a role-play and character fiction community based on Ronald D. Moore's 'remimagined' Battlestar Galactica universe with general storyline and back-story scenes intermixed. The cast is composed of both Canon and Original Characters.
